Reviews for Nini:
"($13; 97% syrah, mostly from 2005 but including a bit from 2006, and 3% grenache from 2004; 14.9% alcohol) Amber-red. Funky aromas of dried red berries, underbrush, cured meat and botanical herbs; smells like a cross between an amaro and an Amarone (amarorone?) and tastes like one as well. Sweet cherry and dark berry flavors are enlivened by a note of blood orange and show a floral quality with air. A singular wine that I'm sure will be highly divisive; count me on the 'like it' side. (90 points)" Josh Raynolds "Sporting a transparent, blood red color, the non-vintage Clos Mimi Syrah Nini has subtle volatile acidity on the nose as well as exuberant spice, underbrush, hot asphalt, licorice and red fruits. The aromas give way to a medium bodied, high acid palate. There’s sweet fruit on the palate but I’d drink these sooner rather then later. (84 pts.)" Jeb Dunnuck "Medium red. Somewhat rustic, Southern Rhone-like aromas of plum, redcurrant, raspberry, black pepper liqueur, chocolate, licorice and game. Sweet, pliant and distinctly Old World, with good lively acidity giving it firm structure. Showing its syrah side today. A delightfully unpolished California wine that finishes with more acids than tannins. (87 points)" Steve Tanzer "This red-fruited Syrah from Arroyo Grande cult winery Clos Mimi blends the 2002 and 2004 vintages." Ray Isle
