"Medium red. Somewhat rustic, Southern Rhone-like aromas of plum, redcurrant, raspberry, black pepper liqueur, chocolate, licorice and game. Sweet, pliant and distinctly Old World, with good lively acidity giving it firm structure. Showing its syrah side today. A delightfully unpolished California wine that finishes with more acids than tannins. (87 points)"
