Dolce&Gabbana serve the 2003 CLOS MIMI "brave oak vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
at the USA premiere of "Filth & Wisdom" directed by Madonna

NYC (CLOS MIMI) Dolce&Gabbana hosted a party honoring Madonna and her new film "Filth & Wisdom" 13 October 2008. Thanks to Kelley Graham the 2003 CLOS MIMI "brave oak vineyard" was poured by the glass at the post-screening party inside the brand new Thompson LES Hotel in New York City. Mrs. Graham is the sommelier for Shang Restaurant, Bar and Lounge (grand opening 1 December 2008) at the luxurious Thompson LES (Lower East Side).

Tim SPEAR is the "vigneron" for CLOS MIMI. Mr. SPEAR studied viticulture and enology at the University of California at Davis 1985 thru 1990. After graduating with a Bachelors of science, Mr. SPEAR apprenticed for a whole year at Chateau LYNCH-BAGES in Bordeaux. Upon returning to California in 1992, Mr. SPEAR took a fulltime winemaker position at Justin Vineyards in Paso Robles. Mr. SPEAR went on to work for Tablas Creek Vineyard, Meridian Vineyards and Creston Vineyards (all located in Paso Robles) before starting his own label, CLOS MIMI, in 1996. Named in the Burgundian tradition for his wife, Mimi SPEAR, CLOS MIMI is a family-owned winery located in Santa Maria, California.

With only 122 cases bottled, the 2003 CLOS MIMI "brave oak vineyard" is one of Tim SPEAR's limited production single vineyard syrahs. The wine was produced from a terraced 1.55-acre block planted to 100% syrah in limestone-rich soils. The wine was bottled, corked, waxed, labeled and tissue wrapped 100% by hand. Completely sold out at the winery, the 2003 CLOS MIMI "brave oak vineyard" is available at select retailers and restaurants around the country.

Madonna shows her 'filth' at premiere

Madonna switched gears to "Filth and Wisdom" on Monday night, hitting the red carpet for the New York premiere of her debut as a feature film director.

The Queen of Pop, who is circling the globe for her Sticky & Sweet tour, arrived solo, without hubby Guy Ritchie on her arm.

"I'm so happy with the finished product," she said. "Writing it was actually my favorite part because it is so different from everything I do and deep down inside I'm really a writer."

The songstress showed less skin than usual in a conservative black dress that just grazed her knees.

Her black stilettos were the only part of the outfit with a Madonna trademark. The heels of the shoes were in the shape of pistols.

Her Madgesty, who famously flopped in several feature films, directed and co-wrote the musical comedy, which opens Friday.

The plot revolves around three London roommates: a stripper, a Ukrainian immigrant moonlighting as a dominatrix and a drugstore clerk who steals medicine for poor kids in Africa.

Cast members said the Material Girl was a perfectionist in the director's chair. The film has received tepid reviews from critics.

"She knew exactly what she wanted and there was no in between. She made everything very clear," said lead actress Holly Weston, who plays a pole-dancing ballerina. "Everything had to be perfect. I think she was even there before us in the morning."

The Cinema Society-sponsored premiere drew an audience filled with the singer's celebrity pals, including the very pregnant Naomi Watts and partner Liev Schreiber, Lindsay Lohan and Brooke Shields. Jessica Alba was also there along with America Ferrara, illusionist David Blaine, newlywed Beth Ostrosky, Katie Lee Joel, Padma Lakshmi, Jason Lewis and designers Marc Jacobs and Rachel Roy.

Dolce & Gabbana toasts Madonna's directorial debut

Dolce & Gabbana host screening of Madonna's latest film.

Anyone who's anyone was at the IFC Centre in New York last night for the Cinema Society and Dolce & Gabbana's screening of Filth and Wisdom, Madonna's first project as a director.

It's a musical, drama comedy starring Richard E Grant and Eugene Huntz of uber cool gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, about an aspiring Ukrainian rock star. Madonna in fact became so close to Eugene during the filming of the movie that he even played live at her 49th Birthday party last summer.

Her madgesty wore Dolce & Gabbana for the occasion - naturally - as did a heavily pregnant Naomi Watts and Lindsay Lohan, who launched her own leggings collection in NYC yesterday too.

Madonna film premieres

Madonna took time out from her Sticky & Sweet tour last night, to celebrate her debut as a film director.

Premiering in New York, Filth and Wisdom is the singer's first foray into film directing, and is a musical comedy based around the lives of three roommates in London.

Madonna arrived at the screening in what appeared to be a conservative black dress, but never one to cover up her enviable figure, it soon revealed itself to have a completely sheer skirt, flashing her toned pins beneath.

The black dress was the fashion hit of the night cropping up on many of the singer's celebrity fans and friends.

Mirroring the Material Girl's look, Lindsay Lohan donned a black minidress, with sheer top panel, and tumbling blonde curls.

Three more of the night's LBD's came courtesy of the Ugly Betty cast; America Ferrera in a simple chic shift dress, co-star Becki Newton in strapless and super-short, and Vanessa Williams flaunting her curves in a figure-hugging satin gown.

Brooke Shields added to the list, in a structural knee-length gown, with exaggerated frilled shoulders, while Jessica Alba showed off her stunning post-baby figure in a pretty prom style strappy style.

But the night wasn't an all-noir affair. A heavily pregnant Naomi Watts proved that a baby bump would not get in the way of her style, arriving in a stunning short satin purple gown teamed with on-trend black ankle boots.

Juliette Lewis worked the red carpet in a blush pink fringed number, and Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen scored another fashion hit with a neat grey shift and patent show boots.
